Sited on 12 acres of open conservation land, this 10,500 sf stucco Italian Mediterranean Revival manor home was enlarged by 4,500 sf, with the addition’s proportions and detailing sympathetic to the original residence.

The addition included a three stall garage, a new entry stair hall, exercise room, media room, and a guest bedroom en suite. The kitchen and family room in the original house were gutted and traditionally renovated to accommodate a 21st century family. The design and details of the tall cherry millwork wall in the family room utilized Palladian proportions and motifs.

The landscaping was designed in the Italian manner, utilizing Edith Wharton’s principles in her seminal book, Italian Villas and their Gardens.
